The number of inquiries received concerning the ground rent purchase scheme provided by the Landlord and Tenant (Ground Rents) (No. 2) Act, 1978, between 1 August 1978—the date the Act came into operation—and 2 March 1979 inclusive, was 9,992. The number of vesting certificates issued under the Act during that period was 626 while the number of applications for vesting certificates in hand on 2 March 1979 that is applications made and in respect of which vesting certificates have not issued, was 1,111.
