asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware that a person (name supplied) who purchased a NBA house (details supplied) in County Donegal is unable to gain possession of it despite meeting all the requirements of the NBA; in view of the fact that the person is homeless if he will instruct the NBA to expedite the matter without further delay and if he will make a comprehensive statement on the matter.

I have no functions in regard to individual mortgages granted by the National Building Agency and details for such mortgages are not available in my Department. Intervention by me in the case referred to by the Deputy would be inappropriate. I understand however, from the agency that delays in the case were due to the non-completion of the sale on the nominated date by the proposed purchaser and the nonpayment by him of moneys due for interest since that date.
