Vol. 315 No. 12

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

163.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants awaiting telephone service in the (a) Dún Laoghaire Borough area and (b) South County Dublin area.

Statistics of waiting applicants are maintained on an exchange area basis and are not readily available in the form requested. The total number of waiting applicants at the 18 exchanges serving Dún Laoghaire and South County Dublin areas is about 9,550 of which some 1,070 are estimated to be resident in the Dún Laoghaire Borough area, and the remainder (8,480) in South County Dublin.

164.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs in view of the illness of the applicant when telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

The provision of service is dependent on cabling schemes which, it is regretted, are not expected to be completed until late this year. Service will be provided as soon as the cabling schemes are completed.
