asked the Minister for Education the number of national school pupils in each standard ranging from junior infants to seventh and over, who are in classes of each of the following sizes: 0-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; and 55 and over, excluding special schools, special classes, and secondary types for the latest available date.

The information sought by the Deputy is set out in the attached tabular statement.

The information relates to September 30 1978.

asked the Minister for Education in relation to his reply to Question No. 145 of 4 July 1979, the names of schools with (a) one or more classes of between 45 and 49 pupils; (b) one or more classes of between 50 and 54 pupils; (c) one or more classes of 55 or over; (d) the number of such classes in each school concerned; (e) the largest class recorded in his Department, and the identity of the school concerned.

It is not in accordance with normal procedure to give the identity of individual schools in such cases.
