Vol. 317 No. 4

Written Answers. - Horse Show Week: Road Access.

464.

asked the Minister for Justice if an assurance was given by the Garda to any member of the public that the Prince of Wales Terrace, Dublin 4, would be kept open to traffic during Horse Show Week 1979 and if traffic was allowed to move freely up and down this terrace on to Sandymount Avenue on 8 August 1979 without obstruction or being stopped by gardaí.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that under their arrangements for traffic control during Horse Show Week, 1979, Prince of Wales Terrace was open to traffic but parking was restricted to one side of the roadway so as to prevent traffic obstruction. A resident of Prince of Wales Terrace who had made representations to the Garda in the matter was informed of the arrangements. A Garda presence was maintained in the terrace during the week for the purposes of security and traffic control. Similar arrangements operated during the Spring Show earlier in the year and also for the Spring Show and the Horse Show in 1978.
