Vol. 318 No. 9

Written Answers. - School Deeds of Trust.

13.

asked the Minister for Education if any changes have been made in the draft deed of trust for community schools since the TUI vote of acceptance; the nature of any such changes, and if they have been discussed with the TUI.

14.

asked the Minister for Education if he has received any indication since 20 November 1980 from either the TUI or the CMRS that they remain dissatisfied with any of the detailed provisions of the deed of trust for community schools; if so, the relevant section and the nature of the dissatisfaction; and if he intends meeting either of these organisations to discuss these matters.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 13 and 14 together.

There have been no substantive changes in the draft model deed of trust since July 1979. When drafting clarifications were made, it was not considered necessary to submit them for discussion. The TUI have recently drawn attention to two of these drafting clarifications. They relate to:

(i) the substitution of the adjective "normal" for the adjective "temporary" in qualifying the transfer of a religious teacher in circumstances which would not give rise to a vacancy in a community school.

(ii) the addition of a phrase indicating that the chaplain should be nominated by the competent religious authority.

My Department have been in touch with the TUI in the matter. I do not anticipate any difficulty in relation to it.
