Vol. 319 No. 1

Written Answers. - Aquaculture Licences.

225.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the number of licences now granted for aquaculture in Ireland and the number of applications outstanding.

As the general body of fisheries legislation provides for the issue of both orders and licences in respect of aquacultural activities, the term "licence" in the question is taken to refer to both orders and licences.

The reply is as follows:

No. of “Licences” Granted

No. of “Licences” Extant

No. of Applications on hands

Licences

(a) Many of these licences were granted in the last century and have either lapsed or been revoked thus accounting for the small number still extant.
