The number of indictable assaults committed in Dublin over the period 1 October 1979 to 31 March 1980 was 401; the figure in respect of the calendar year 1979 was 846. The numbers of non-indictable assaults committed in Dublin over the same periods were 1,546 and 2,811 respectively.
