I have made inquiries from the Southern Health Board regarding the case referred to by the Deputy and I have been informed that the application was refused on income grounds.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of persons in receipt of (i) unemployment assistance and (ii) unemployment benefit in County Donegal and the percentage of the employable population this represents.
The number of persons registered at local offices in County Donegal who were in receipt of unemployment assistance and unemployment benefit at the end of April 1980 was 7,986 (including 2,804 smallholders) and 1,762 respectively. It is not possible to state the percentage these numbers represent of the employable population as there are no labour force statistics available on a county basis.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in the payment of sickness benefit and pay-related benefit to a person (details supplied) in County Cork and when payment will issue.
The person concerned claimed occupational injury benefit from 11 April 1980. Pending completion of inquiries regarding the circumstances of the injury, he received interim payment of disability benefit, the first payment of which issued on 1 May 1980.
The inquiries regarding his injury were subsequently completed and he has now received all payment of injury benefit up to 12 May 1980, the date of the latest certificate received.
His entitlement to pay-related benefit is based on his reckonable earnings in the 1978-79 tax year. As details of his earnings were not available to my Department under the revenue number quoted by the claimant he was requested to furnish evidence of his earnings in that year. On receipt of the necessary information on 15 May 1980 in my Department a cheque paying arrears of pay-related benefit to 12 May 1980 was issued to him.
