Written Answers. - Payment of Grants.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a grant to reduce dependence on oil has not yet been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary.

The processing of the huge volume of housing grant applications and correspondence in my Department at present has caused delay in paying the grant in this case. The applicant's failure to submit documentation with his application and his absence from home at the time of the inspector's first visit were contributory factors.

The grant was paid on 13 June 1980.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a reconstruction grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary.

Payment of house improvement and water and sewerage grants in this case has been delayed because of the huge volume of applications being processed at present. The grants will be paid shortly.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a solid fuel conversion grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary.

The grant was paid on 18 June 1980.

asked the Minister for the Environment when payment of a reconstruction grant will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The grant in this case is one for essential repairs. Payment will be made when notification is received from Galway County Council that the work has been satisfactorily completed.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary.

A house improvement grant of £444 had been paid to the person named. He was not satisfied with the amount of the grant and the inspector was asked to recheck the costings. An additional amount of £156 was paid on 13 June 1980, making a total grant of £600.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a grant to reduce dependence on oil has not yet been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary.

This applicant is not eligible for a special grant to reduce dependence on oil by virtue of the fact that there was an existing back boiler in the house prior to the commencement of the work specified in the application.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a home improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Clare.

The grant will be paid in this case when the necessary inspection has been carried out and the inspector certifies that payment is in order.

The grant in this case was paid on 19 June 1980.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a grant to reduce dependence on oil to a person (details supplied) in South West Cork; and when the payment will issue.

A grant is not payable in this case because the house is a new one completed within 12 months prior to commencement of the works to reduce dependence on oil.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a solid fuel conversion grant will be paid to an applicant (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The grant was paid on 19 June 1980.

asked the Minister for the Environment when his Department will pay an essential repairs grant of £300 to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The grant will be paid shortly.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a home improvement grant to an applicant (details supplied) in County Galway.

Any delay in this case is due to the huge number of applications for house improvement grants being processed at present. The grant will be paid when an inspection has been carried out and the inspector has certified that work has been satisfactorily completed.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

Some delay arose in this case because of the huge number of housing grant applications being dealt with in my Department. Arrangements are now being made for the allocation and payment of a £1,000 grant.
