Vol. 322 No. 9

Written Answers. - Donegal County Council Allocation.

113.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received an application from Donegal County Council for a financial allocation to complete houses for which the council have an existing commitment amounting to £3.2 million and proposals for new works amounting to £1.3 million; the amount of finance he has allocated to date; and when he proposes to allocate additional finance.

On the 7 January last an application was received in my Department from Donegal County Council for a financial allocation to meet existing commitments on their housing programme in 1980. On 14 March last, the council were notified of a capital allocation of £1,850,000 for this purpose.

The council have submitted a further application for a capital allocation to finance new works in various parts of the county, due to commence before 31 July 1980. This application is being examined in conjunction with similar claims from other housing authorities. I cannot say at this stage when I will be in a position to make a decision on the council's application.
