Vol. 325 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Letterkenny (Donegal) Flooding.

16.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the problem of recurring flooding at Beechwood Road, Letterkenny, County Donegal, where residents have had to call on the services of the fire brigade on 13 occasions within seven weeks; and, in view of the seriousness of the problem, if he will make adequate funds available to deal with the problem and direct that the matter be dealt with finally and properly as a matter of urgency.

There are no proposals to deal with the flooding problem referred to by the Deputy at present before my Department. However, I understand that Letterkenny Urban District Council propose to carry out surface water drainage works to alleviate the flooding problem at an early date and to finance the cost involved as part of the 1981 small schemes programme. I would give sympathetic consideration to such a proposal.
