Vol. 325 No. 2

Written Answers. - Maternity Legislation.

281.

asked the Minister for Health whether he has any proposals for the introduction of legislation in relation to maternity matters as referred to by him while speaking at a recent public function.

I presume that the question refers to my address at the opening of the Symposium of the European Association of Programmes in Health Services Studies on 4 November 1980. The study of the existing maternity and infant care scheme, to which I referred in that address, is still in progress. I will examine the question of any legislative changes that may be required in the light of the findings of the study. I expect that the study will be completed early in the new year.
