Vol. 325 No. 6

Written Answers. - Letterkenny Hospital Facilities.

203.

asked the Minister for Health if he has received proposals for a pharmacy department in the general hospital, Letterkenny, County Donegal; and in view of the urgent need for better and more spacious accommodation, if he will sanction without delay the proposals submitted so that the additional demands of the large hospital expected to be in operation soon will be met.

The brief originally prepared for the development of Letterkenny general hospital provided for a new pharmacy. The North Western Health Board subsequently submitted revised proposals to my Department in relation to the enlargement of the proposed pharmacy and four other departments in the hospital.

These proposals would have quite significant implications in relation to the development of the hospital and a small group comprising officers of the health board and my Department has been established to examine them. The group will commence its work on 11 December next. I will consider the proposals in the light of the recommendations arising from this examination.
