Vol. 326 No. 1

Written Answers. - Teachers Paid Educational Leave.

320.

asked the Minister for Education his intentions with regard to granting paid educational leave to teachers who are qualified to enter the full-time M.Ed. university course.

There is provision in the rules for national schools to allow a teacher leave of absence with pay to enable him/her to attend a full-time university course on condition that a fully qualified teacher is employed by him/her. The leave of absence, normally of one year's duration, is granted to teachers who have been probated and whose work is satisfactory and who have the approval of the board of management. Each application is considered on its merits.

Provision also exists for such leave of absence for teachers in post-primary schools.
