Vol. 326 No. 4

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

246.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in providing a telephone service for a person (details supplied) in County Donegal.

It has not been possible to provide service because of the volume of work requiring attention in the area. It is expected that the application will be met towards the end of this year.

247.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will provide a telephone kiosk for the residents of Fr. Meehan Place, Castlebar, County Mayo.

The use likely to be made of a telephone kiosk at that location would not be sufficient to warrant its provision and it is not proposed therefore to provide one there.

248.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it is expected that a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin in view of the fact that she has been waiting five years for service, is 76 years of age and is not in the best of health.

249.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, in view of the circumstances of a person (details supplied) in Dublin, he will be in a position to supply a telephone in the near future.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 248 and 249 together. Service to this applicant, who applied in 1978, is dependent on the provision of cable which, because of the volume of engineering work requiring attention in the Dublin area, is regrettably unlikely to be carried out for at least another year.

250.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if any priority has been granted to the application of a person (details supplied) in Dublin for a telephone service in view of the health circumstances of the applicant.

It is expected that service will be provided within the next four months or so.

251.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs how soon it will be possible to provide a telephone service for persons (details supplied) in Dublin.

Service to this applicant is dependent on the provision of cabling which, because of the volume of engineering work requiring attention in the Dublin area at present, in unlikely to be provided for at least another year.

252.

Service is dependent on the provision of cabling, which, because of the volume of engineering work awaiting attention in the area, is unlikely to be completed for at least another year.

253.
