Vol. 326 No. 5

Written Answers. - Widow's Pension and Death Grant.

37.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in the payment of a widow's pension and death grant to a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

The person concerned claimed a widow's pension and a death grant from my Department in December 1980. Her marriage certificate has however not been supplied to date. It is understood that she has written for the certificate to England where she was married.

On the evidence available she would not be entitled to a widow's contributory pension or a death grant on her late husband's insurance or on her own. However, further inquiries are being made into the late husband's employment record and the case has also been referred to the authorities in the United Kingdom, were he was employed for a time.

The question of entitlement to a widow's non-contributory pension is also being investigated and, when these investigations are completed and all necessary certificates have been supplied, a decision will be given without delay.
