Vol. 326 No. 9

Written Answers. - Payment of Substitute Teachers.

174.

asked the Minister for Education whether his Department has received a request for a meeting with the diocesan secretaries of boards of management of the standing committee of the Catholic Primary School Managers' Association to discuss the payment of substitute teachers or the payment of regional officers for arranging to deduct PAYE and PRSI contributions; and whether he, or his representative, will receive a deputation.

I am not aware of the existence of a national organisation of diocesan secretaries of boards of management of the standing committee of the Catholic Primary School Managers' Association and I have not received a request for a meeting with them.

I may add that officials of my Department have met representatives of the standing committee of the Catholic Primary School Managers' Association on several occasions over the last few months to discuss these issues, the most recent occasion being on 13 January 1981.

I would not consider it appropriate for me to have further discussions of this nature other than with the duly accredited representatives of the standing committee.
