Vol. 326 No. 11

Written Answers. - Environmental Services.

239.

andMr. Tully asked the Minister for the Enviroment if he will outline for each local authority the allocation of £10.3 million in the Public Capital Programme 1981 under the heading of other environmental services giving a breakdown of the amount which is intended for each local authority; and the projects for which the money will be utilised.

It is not the practice to make allocations to local authorities under the "other environmental services" heading of the Public Capital Programme. Approval to capital borrowing is issued on the basis of individual applications from local authorities for specific projects as they arise. The heading covers a range of services such as swimming pools, resettlement of travelling people, libraries, sanitary conveniences, waste disposal, local authority office accommodation and so forth.
