Vol. 326 No. 11

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

357.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for the Environment if a person (details supplied) in County Cavan is an applicant for a home improvement grant; if so if he has been requested to have the work inspected; the reason for the delay in inspecting this work to date; and when an inspection will be carried out and the grant paid.

An application for a house improvement grant has been received from the person named and a grant of £600 was allocated. Notification of completion of work has been received. An inspection with a view to payment of a grant, if in order, will be carried out as soon as possible. Any delay in arranging an inspection in this case has been due to the large volume of applications being processed by my Department.

358.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for the Environment if a person (details supplied) in County Cavan is an applicant for a home improvement grant; if his house has been inspected and passed; the reason for the delay to date; and if he will arrange for the payment of the grant as a matter of urgency.

The person named applied to my Department for a house improvement grant. The work has been inspected and payment of a water and sewerage grant and the balance of a reconstruction grant are in order. The grants will be paid shortly.

The delay in dealing with this case is due to the large number of grant applications being processed in the Department.
