Vol. 326 No. 11

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

381.

asked the Minister for the Environment the date of the payment of the £1,000 new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

The grant will be paid shortly.

382.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for the Environment if a person (details supplied) in County Cavan applied for a home improvement grant; the date on which he applied; whether a grant was sanctioned; the number of times the applicant has applied for inspection and payment; the reason for the delay to date; and when payment will issue.

The person named applied for a house improvement grant in May 1978 and a grant was approved in August 1978. The applicant was asked on 2 January 1979 to forward evidence of planning permission for the work, but this was not received in my Department until 14 January 1980. He wrote in January and August 1979 stating that work was completed, but an inspection was deferred pending the receipt of the notice of planning permission. The processing of the huge influx of applications in January February 1980 resulted in inevitable delays in dealing with this and other applications. An urgent inspection has now been arranged with a view to payment of the grant, if in order.

383.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a £1,000 new house grant to a person (details supplied) in South West Cork; and whether the cheque will now issue.

There has been no undue delay in dealing with this case. A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been completed and that the conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with. The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.
