Vol. 327 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Cork Community Schools.

361.

asked the Minister for Education if he will explain the differences between the present community schools and the new community colleges envisaged for County Cork.

As I stated in connection with my reply to Question No. 7 on 3 February 1981, there is no official category of school known as a community college. I added that the name is given by some vocational education committees to some schools established in accordance with the provisions of the Vocational Education Acts.

It would be a matter for the County Cork Vocational Education Committee to explain to interested parties in connection with any particular school which they would propose designating a community college the form of management structure which would be established for the school, the range of the curriculum of the school and other relevant details.
