Vol. 327 No. 9

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

273.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in the payment of disability benefit to a person (details supplied) in County Dublin; and when the arrears will be paid and regular weekly payments commenced.

The person concerned claimed disability benefit from 13 January 1981 and has been paid at the maximum appropriate rate from that date. All disability benefit and pay-related benefit due has been paid to 10 March.

The delay in payment is due to the fact that he is quoting his insurance number instead of his RSI number on some of the medical certificates submitted in connection with his claim. For the claim to be identified it is essential that RSI number be quoted on each certificate.

274.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reasons an applicant (details supplied) in County Dublin has been refused a non-contributory old age pension.

An appeals officer decided on 5 March 1981 that the persons concerned were entitled to a reduced rate of non-contributory old age pension from May 1980. Pension order books and arrears issued on 10 March 1981.

275.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason disability benefit in respect of five weeks is still outstanding in a case (details supplied) in County Tipperary.

The person concerned claimed disability benefit from 5 January 1981 and was paid from 8 January, fourth day of incapacity at the maximum appropriate rate. All disability benefit and pay-related benefit due has been paid to 3 March 1981. The delay in payment is due to the fact that he is quoting his insurance number instead of his RSI number on his medical certificates.
