An instalment of £500 of the house improvement grant was paid in this case on 26 March 1981 and payment of the balance of £100 was made on 28 August 1981. A grant of £350 for the installation of water and sewerage facilities was paid on 31 March 1981.

Although an inspection was carried out in this case in April 1981, grants have not been approved either for the new water supply, which had by then been completed, or for the reconstruction works, which had not commenced, because it has not been established, in the case of the water supply, that the work had commenced or a contract had been entered into on or before 21 January 1980, and, in the case of the reconstruction works, that a contract had been entered into or materials purchased on or before the same date. The applicant was asked to furnish the necessary evidence on 6 May 1981 and again on 30 September 1981 but to date no such evidence has been furnished.

An application from the person named for a grant under the old scheme of new house grants was rejected on 17 August 1977, as his income was in excess of the maximum allowable for grant purposes.

asked the Minister for the Environment why a person (details supplied) in Dublin has not yet been notified regarding his application for a housing grant which was made last January; and if he will give his assurance that this will be dealt with promptly.
An application for a grant was received from the person named on 15 January 1981. An inspection was carried out on 30 January which revealed that some work was still outstanding. The application form was returned to the applicant in May 1981 as it had not been fully completed; approval to a grant was issued on 27 May 1981.
A recent inspection has established that all work has been completed and that the house is occupied by the applicant. The grant will be paid shortly.

As the applicant had a means of providing domestic hot water by way of solid fuel prior to the installation of the back boiler for which a grant was sought his application has had to be refused. He was informed accordingly on 8 August 1980, the decision being confirmed on 14 August 1981.
