asked the Minister for Education if the same criteria are used in arriving at teacher allocations in respect of community, vocational and comprehensive schools; and if he will outline the criteria.
Written Answers. - Teacher Allocations.
537.
Teacher allocations in respect of comprehensive and community schools are made on the basis of a teacher/pupil ratio of 1:18.
In so far as vocational schools are concerned, allocations are not made on an individual school basis but on a committee scheme basis. Deployment among the schools in each scheme is then a matter for the individual vocational education committee. The basis of the allocation by Committee Scheme is a teacher/pupil ratio of 1:16.5.
Additional provision is made in the case of both categories of schools for the appointment of principals, vice-principals and guidance teachers (in the case of schools of enrolment of not less than 250 pupils).
