Vol. 330 No. 3

Written Answers. - Waterford Airport Facilities.

184.

asked the Minister for Transport when he expects to be in a position to grant licences for passenger and freight carriers wishing to use Waterford airport.

An inspection of the facilities at Waterford was carried out by the air navigation services office of my Department this week and I am advised that a number of matters have to be attended to before the airport will be fit for licensing. These matters have been brought to the attention of the airport company.

In anticipation of the issue of the necessary licence and in order that a service to and from Waterford should be available as soon as it opened an authorisation for the operation of a scheduled service between Dublin and Waterford has been issued on a non-exclusive basis to Avair. Any other applications to provide services to and from Waterford will be examined on their merits.
