Vol. 330 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Schools.

575.

asked the Minister for Education when he expects work to commence on the extension to St. Annin's national school at Rosscahill, County Galway.

Sketch plans prepared by the Commissioners of Public Works have been approved by the Department for the proposed extension to St. Annin's National School at Rosscahill, County Galway. Satisfactory evidence of title to a site extension has not however, yet been established.

The preparation of working drawings cannot be undertaken until the matter of title has been cleared up. Accordingly, it is not possible to state when building may commence.

576.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposed new national school at Tydavnet, County Monaghan.

In February last, my Department authorised the Commissioners of Public Works to arrange for the invitation of tenders for the proposed new national school at Tydavnet, County Monaghan.

I understand from the Commissioners that contract documents were completed in late August. However, before they invite tenders, it will be necessary to ensure that there will be an adequate water supply to enable building work to proceed and they have asked the reverend chairman of the board of management to have a well sunk on the site. When this matter has been resolved, tenders will be invited.

577.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposed new school at Corduff, Carrickmacross, County Monaghan.

I understand from the Commissioners of Public Works that working drawings for the proposed new national school at Corduff, County Monaghan, are in course of preparation. The next stage of planning will be the preparation of a bill of quantities.
