Written Answers. - Armed Robberies.

380.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of armed robberies which have taken place in the past three months; and if he will give details.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that during the three month period ended 30 September 1981, the number of armed robberies (including attempted armed robberies) was 85, of which 23 have so far been detected. The value of property reported taken was £285,900 and the amount recovered to date is £1,840. Seventy of the armed robberies took place in the Dublin Metropolitan Area, six in the Louth-Meath Division, three in Kerry Division, two each in Cavan-Monaghan and Waterford-Kilkenny Divisions, and one each in Longford-Westmeath and Tipperary Divisions. These figures are provisional.
