Vol. 334 No. 7

Written Answers. - Protection of Goose Species.

231.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if he will make an order as soon as possible affording full protection from shooting to the Greenland white-fronted goose in view of the research-attested dangers that exist to the species.

I understand that the Wildlife Advisory Council are at present considering the status of the Greenland white-fronted goose and, on receipt of the council's advice—which I expect will be soon—I will decide whether or not there is a need, from a conservation standpoint, to prohibit the shooting of this species.
