Vol. 334 No. 7

Written Answers. - Loss of Registered Letter.

758.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange to investigate the loss of a registered letter which was posted on 19 April by a person (details supplied) in Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Inquiries in this case indicate that the registered letter, which was posted on 19 April 1982 at Blackwater Post Office has not been delivered in Dublin. The letter contained £100 in cash and the registration fee which was prepaid on the item entitles the sender to full compensation of £100. Arrangements will be made to remit £100 to the sender as soon as the addressee formally gives notice that the letter has not been received by him. A Departmental official called to the addressee's residence on 14 May 1982 for the purpose of obtaining this notification, but was unable to get attention.
