Written Answers. - County Galway Water Scheme.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position in relation to the proposed water scheme for Galway city west environs.

The Deputy's question is taken as referring to the Galway County Council scheme — Galway City West and Environs Water Supply Scheme, stage 1, phase 2. Tenders for this scheme are under consideration in my Department at present. I cannot say at this stage when I will be in a position to issue approval to the local authority to the acceptance of a tender for the scheme.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position in relation to the proposed group water scheme at Caherlea, Tuam. County Galway.

Galway County Council have submitted to my Department the results of the quality and quantity tests on a borehole, which the group propose to use as a source. The results of these tests are satisfactory, subject to certain treatment, and the group have been notified accordingly. I understand that the group's design engineer will shortly be consulting Galway County Council about the results.
