Vol. 336 No. 6

Written Answers. - North Clare Industry.

538.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy the present position regarding the provision of an industry by the IDA in the North Clare, Ballvaughan area and if he will make a statement on the matter.

For the purposes of the Industrial Development Authority's Industrial Plan 1978-1982 the North Clare area is defined as including the towns of Ballyvaughan, Ennistymon and Miltown Malbay and their surrounding areas.

The IDA are at present promoting a 7,000 sq. ft. advance factory in Miltown Malbay and a 16,000 sq. ft. factory in Ennistymon for suitable industry. To date seven industrialists have been brought by the IDA to visit the Miltown Malbay factory.

In addition the IDA have recently acquired a 12 acre site in Ennistymon for industrial development. I would add that the Shannon Development Company are currently negotiating with an industrial promoter for a small industry project for a recently constructed 2,500 sq. ft. unit at Ballyvaughan.
