Vol. 336 No. 7

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

519.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason disability benefit has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in Portlaw, County Waterford.

The person concerned claimed injury benefit from 17 November 1981 and was paid for the maximum statutory period of 26 weeks to 17 May 1982. From 18 May 1982 the claim was treated as one to disability benefit.

Before payment of disability benefit could be authorised it was necessary to make certain inquiries with a view to establishing whether he was entitled to such payment. These inquiries have now been completed and arrears of disability benefit and pay-related benefit due for the period 18 May to 22 June 1982 were issued on 23 June 1982.
