The IDA have for some time been endeavouring to secure a takeover of the Dubarry Shoe Factory in Westport by a suitable footwear company. To facilitate these endeavours, the company did, in fact, agree about six months ago to defer closure. Unfortunately, no take-over proposal has so far emerged but the Deputy can be assured that efforts in this regard are being strongly sustained.
