Vol. 340 No. 1

Written Answers. - Whooping Cough Vaccine.

328.

asked the Minister for Health the amount of compensation his Department have agreed to pay to children who have suffered severe disability as a result of the administration of whooping cough vaccine; and the nature of the arrangements for obtaining such payments.

The Government have offered a payment of £10,000, on an ex gratia basis, in respect of each of the 14 persons whose disabilities the Expert Medical Group on Whooping Cough Vaccination considered could be attributed, with reasonable probability, to the vaccination.

My Department will make the payment to the parents of the 14 persons, on receipt of acceptances of the offer.
