Based on provisional figures it is estimated that the average unit cost in 1982 of the conveyance of eligible pupils under the terms of the school transport scheme was about £165.

asked the Minister for Education the subvention paid to CIE for administering the free travel scheme.
The total payment in respect of the cost of the school transport service includes charges recouped to CIE which are calculated on an agreed commercial basis. It would not be in accordance with normal procedure to give details of such charges.
