Under the Horse Industry Act, 1970, responsibility for the staffing of Bord na gCapall is vested in the board and I have no function in determining the number of people employed by the board.
I understand that, due partly to financial constraints resulting from the current budgetary situation, some redundancies in the board's staff have become inevitable and that the board's chief executive is currently discussing settlement terms with the union concerned.
