The Industrial Development Authority have, in recent years, secured a number of new overseas industries for Limerick city and county and have also assisted in the expansion of a number of existing medium- to large-scale industries. These projects, which have a job potential of 3,200 at full production, will provide substantial employment opportunities in the next few years in Limerick. In addition, the IDA have 531,500 sq. ft. of factory space and four industrial sites totalling 222 acres which are being actively promoted. A further 37,500 sq. ft. of factory space is under construction in two locations.

SFADCo have, since they were given special responsibility for the intensive development of small indigenous industry in the west and mid-west regions in 1978, approved a total of 451 small industry projects with a job potential of 4,000 at full production for Limerick city and county. Twelve advance units totalling 42,000 sq. ft. are available for letting to small industries and are being actively promoted by SFADCo.
