Limerick East): Under the terms of the Garda Síochána (Appointments) Regulations, it is the Civil Service Commissioners who are responsible for holding both the qualifying educational examination and the competitive interview for entry to the force. All candidates who pass the qualifying examination held on 17 February 1983, or who qualified by virtue of their leaving certificate examination results, will be called for competitive interview.

Interviewing of qualified candidates is now in progress and will continue for some time. The Civil Service Commissioners will be in touch with candidates about the arrangements for their interview and will inform them as to how they fared.
