Vol. 341 No. 4

Written Answers . - Kerry Commonage Division .

532.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry when the mountain commonage at Cummeenbee, Kenmare, County Kerry, will be divided for a person (details supplied) in County Kerry including the forestry division; and if he will treat this case as one of extreme urgency.

: This is a 44-acre commonage, shared by two owners and over part of which the Forest and Wildlife Service and the person mentioned have certain grazing rights. Before a division of the commonage could take place, acquisition of the property would be necessary. In this context it is considered likely that difficulties in relation to price would arise. Moreover, it is felt that, when a settlement had been reached with the person referred to in respect of the grazing rights held by him, the area available for afforestation would not warrant acquisition.
