Vol. 342 No. 3

Written Answers. - Athenry Industry.

611.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if he will give details of the efforts being made by the IDA to provide industry in Athenry, County Galway, including job approvals for the past 12 months, job projections for the next three years and the number of visits potential industrialists have made to the town in the past 12 months.

I am informed that during 1982 the Industrial Development Authority approved three small industry projects for Athenry which will provide 33 jobs at full production. One overseas industrial promoter visited the town during the year but no firm proposals have emerged to date.

It is not possible to project the number of jobs which will be created by the IDA in Athenry over the next three years. However, the IDA is continuing to promote its 14 acre site in the town for suitable industrial projects.
