Vol. 342 No. 10

Written Answers. - Fishing Vessel Orders.

643.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the number of orders for new fishing vessels now on hands by Bord Iascaigh Mhara; the number of such orders which have been placed with boatyards; and the value of such orders.

1. Thirty fishing vessels are on order by approved fishermen. Twenty-eight of these are on order with boatyards and two are being built by the fishermen themselves. The value of these orders is £3.5 million approximately.

2. In addition to vessels which are already on order, a further six new vessels have been approved in principle for BIM finance.

3. The board itself has one hull and one complete vessel on order at a cost of approximately £600,000.
