Vol. 343 No. 6

Written Answers. - EEC Allocation for Public Lighting.

647.

asked the Minister for the Environment if an allocation from EEC moneys has been made available to any county for public lighting.

An application may be made for aid from EEC resources in respect of a road improvement scheme which is funded by the Exchequer and includes provision for improved public lighting installations on main traffic routes in built-up areas. Such aid as may be received is not paid to local authorities, but is used to increase the overall level of expenditure through the Public Capital Programme.
