Vol. 344 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Limerick Garda Cars.

999.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will make a statement on the reasons a Garda car is not being provided for Kilmallock Garda district, County Limerick.

Limerick East): I am informed by the Garda authorities that they consider that the existing arrangements whereby the Kilmallock area is covered by mobile patrols operated from the district headquarters at Bruff and by the Divisional Task Force and the Traffic Corps based at Henry Street, Limerick, are adequate and make the best use of manpower and transport resources. Accordingly, they do not propose to allocate a patrol car to Kilmallock station at present.

1000.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will make a statement on the reason a Garda car is not being provided for Patrickswell Garda district, County Limerick.

Limerick East): The allocation of official transport to individual stations is a matter for the Garda authorities. They report that there are no proposals to assign a patrol car to Patrickswell station as they consider that the present arrangements make the best use of manpower resources at present available.

I am informed, however, that a motor cycle may be allocated to Patrickswell station at a later stage.
