Vol. 346 No. 3

Written Answers. - Garda Disciplinary Proceedings.

466.

asked the Minister for Justice the outcome of the disciplinary committee proceedings against a person (details supplied) arising from an assault conviction in 1979.

Limerick East): Under the terms of the Garda Síochána (Discipline) Regulations, 1971, the conduct of disciplinary proceedings is a matter for the Garda Commissioner.

I am informed by the Commissioner that disciplinary proceedings in this case, which were to have been resumed on 5 July last, were again adjourned, due mainly to the absence of the member concerned on certified sick leave and the non-availability of officers who will be involved in the proceedings. The Commissioner has indicated that it is intended to resume the proceedings next week.
