The livestock grant schemes being administered by my Department are the sheep headage, cattle headage and beef cow schemes in the disadvantaged areas, the EEC suckler cow, calf and ewe premium schemes and the calved heifer scheme.
In regard to the sheep, cattle and beef cow headage, the ewe premium and the calved heifer schemes, it is expected that the outstanding 1983 applications will, with the exception of cases under query, be paid by mid-February. Calf premium payments will continue until the end of March while suckler cow premium payments will be made in April after the expiration of the six months retention period specified in that scheme.
