asked the Minister for Health the number of deaths from liver disease and the cause of the disease, since 1975, setting out the age group of the persons.

The reply to the Deputy's question has been prepared in tabular form and I propose to circulate it with the Official Report.

The cause of liver disease in individuals is not recorded but the factors most commonly associated with deaths from liver-disease are alcohol and other toxic materials and chronic hepatitis.
