asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if any applications in the interest of fishermen has been made through the Social Fund, the Regional Fund or FEOGA to provide for the implementation of an interest subsidy for fishermen who are in severe financial difficulty; and if so, the current situation in regard to these applications.

No application in respect of an interest subsidy for Irish fishermen has been made under EEC funds referred to by the Deputy as such a subsidy is not eligible for aid from these funds.
