Vol. 354 No. 2

Written Answers. - New Post-Primary School.

660.

asked the Minister for Education if she will place a new school (details supplied) on the highest possible priority list of her Department as they have been waiting since 1965 for sanction; the reason for the long delay; and the suggestion her Department can make to speed up the matter.

In July 1983, the authorities of the existing post-primary schools at the centre in question proposed a major change in the community school development which was in the course of architectural planning. This planning had been proceeding on the basis of a proposal which the school authorities had put forward in 1977 and which had been approved. Planning is now in hands for the revised development.

Due priority is being given to the project. However in view of the required revision in planning the earliest date by which the school could be ready for occupation would be September 1987.
