Vol. 354 No. 5

Written Answers. - Kilmainham Jail.

633.

asked the Minister for Finance the body which administers the affairs of Kilmainham Jail; the names of those who actually participate in its administration, if he is satisfied that the present trustees adhere to the terms of the constitution especially in relation to the holding of an AGM, the election of officers, presentation of accounts and report and proper quorum present at all meetings; if the trustees have been replaced as required in the constitution; and if he intends to appoint a new board of trustees in the near future.

Kilmainham Jail is vested in the Commissioners of Public Works who have leased the premises, subject to certain conditions, to the trustees of the Kilmainham Jail Restoration Committee.

The Minister for Finance has power to appoint two trustees. A present trustee so appointed is Mr. Matthew Feehan. The existing trustees have power to replace and remove the other trustees, not appointed by the Minister, subject to the approval of the Minister. The Minister for Finance has no other function in relation to the trustees.
